“Professionally” Painted By ??? Now Fixed By CabinetPRO

This kitchen seemed to have been purpose built in place many years ago. Many of the cabinets were of different heights and the door opening in some cases were incorrect. Many of the existing doors were of inconsistent sizes making the symmetry and operation out of balance.

The original doors were arched with a small ogee profile and bead. They were installed using exterior or exposed hinges with relatively large spacings between the doors and drawers.

The client had the cabinets “professionally” painted in a semi-gloss white to freshen up the look only to be disappointed. The colour changed in a short period of time. Not all, but many of the doors turned to a yellowish tone.

The company that painted the cabinets agreed to repaint the doors that turned yellow and again. After some time the cabinet doors altered in colour to a yellow tone, yet again. This client didn’t want to try painting once more as it wasn’t working out for her. She contacted us about our unique refacing program hoping to resolve her problem. We visited her home and evaluated her kitchen and made suggesting changing the door style and colour completely. They selected a grey on a v-groove shaker door and resurfaced the entire cabinet boxes with new matching grey material.

The clients existing cabinet doors were installed with external exposed hinges, so we suggested replacing them with hidden or concealed hinges with a soft close feature. At the same time, we suggested increase the door overlay by increasing the door sizes to make the cabinetry appear more contemporary looking.

We improved the look of the peninsula from a boring wainscot style to something special by adding 5-door panels to match the cabinet doors. In fact we added door panels to the end of all her cabinets to give a higher end look.
